About The Team

In February 1996 an arrangement was reached with the Clevedon Mercury for village news to be printed in their paper under the “Around the Towns” section, for which we would be paid. It was decided that these moneys, after deduction of expenses, would be used to finance the initiatives for the benefit of the Village. The Village Diary was started at the same time and was published in the paper and displayed at various sites around the Village.
A web site was launched initially in July 1999. With increasing numbers accessing the web site, additional facilities were included e.g. individual web pages for village organisations, and advertisements.
The objectives of the Team are to inform village inhabitants of Congresbury through publication in local media and the internet, and to generally benefit the Village. Some of the contributions to village life are listed below:

1998	First issue of “Introducing Congresbury.”
1999	Notice board on The Green, Kent Road. Radio-microphone for Congresbury Fête committee.
2000	Contribution to Interpretation Boards at the Millennium Green. Further notice board at Brinsea Road shopping precinct car park.
2001	Second issue of “Introducing Congresbury.”
2002	Wooden seat at the top of Kent Road.
2003	Seat at The Tumbling Weir. Contribution towards mural at King George V playing fields. Third issue of “Introducing Congresbury”; 2 further issues have been produced.
2004	Replacement of notice board at Kent Road (old board stolen from bus shelter!). Book token prizes for Congresbury Horticultural Society’s Spring Show. Trophy to be awarded at Congresbury Horticultural Society’s Summer Show. Annual photography prize for Congresbury Horticultural Society’s Summer Show. Mural in bus shelter.
2005	Book token prizes for Congresbury Horticultural Society’s Spring Show. Donation to the Millennium Green. Mural at Congresbury Recreation clubhouse. Seat at Brinsea Road shopping precinct.
2007	Refurbishment of Victorian iron seat in St. Andrew’s churchyard.
2008	Grant to “Love Congresbury.” Grant to Congresbury Community Pre-School Playgroup.
2009	Grant to the Millennium Green.
2010	Grant to Congresbury Fête committee. Grant to “Love Congresbury.”
2011	Grant to Congresbury Fête committee. Further seat at The Tumbling Weir.
